What is Samba And How to install it in Linux ?
Samba is a file sharing Server between Unix And Windows Operating Systems. It helps us to share files And Printer sharing between Linux and windows Operating Systems. It talks to SMB/CIFS Networking windows protocols.
NFS works only for Linux that is why Mostly Companies uses samba for file sharing for both OS.
Samba provides Secure , stable and fast files and print services for all clients using SMB/CIFS Protocol.
Step 1. First check Packages Is installed or not ,
Rpm –qa | grep samba*
Step 2. Install the Samba
Yum install samba* -y
After installing you will see the packages
And Configuration files are stored in /etc/samba/smb.conf
Step 3: It’s always a good idea to keep the original files at safe location by
Cp /etc/samba/smb.conf /etc/samba/smb.conf.backup
Now you have successfully installed the Samba server But You need to configure it according to your need.
