Squid Server is a caching and forwarding HTTP web proxy. It increases the speed of web server by caching repeated requests,Caching web, DNS and other network resources. It filters the internet traffic coming out from an organisation and also adding security by filtering traffic.

Features of Proxy Server

  • It can act as Proxy Server which filters traffic including HTTP,ftp and HTTPS
  • It also acts as Proxy cache.

Port Number  3128

Configuration file  /etc/squid/squid_conf

Log Location  /var/log/squid/access.log and /var/log/squid/cache.log

Packages installed

squid-migration-script-3.5.20-12.el7.x86_64 And  squid-3.5.20-12.el7.x86_64

Installation Steps

You can find Squid Server in Yum repository the package already will be there

Run command to install    yum install squid* -y

Start Squid Service

Enable Squid at boot time

To View available Option in Squid, Run following command  Squid -h

To view squid version and configuration file, run following command Squid -v

You’re done.
