Check Service Is Running Or Not Linux

Sometimes we need to check service is running on the server or not It helps us to troubleshoot easily. we can check all systemctl services list status which is running in the Linux server.

It’s a good practice to check service first before jumping on other things. We’re going to tell you different ways of checking service on the Linux machine. We can easily check the list of all service status in Linux. We can also check what services are running in Linux.

Here I’m going to check httpd service which belongs to Apache. You can check any service status by command

systemctl status servicename

Check Service is Running

lsof meaning ‘List Open Files‘ is used to find out which files are open by which process. You can use either port number or service name

service list in linux

netstat –ntlp command will show you all running service along with their port number and belong to which program name.

linux service status all

systemctl list-units –type service command will show you all running service this can help you to find the failed service.

check service status

you can check all mounted partition here

systemctl list-units –type mount

Check Out: Enable/Disable Firewall


Check the Apache server service.

systemctl | grep httpd

grep htpd

List all the services using the below commands. 

systemctl list-unit-files 

failed service
