Error Locate Command Not Found (find files) In Linux

Sometimes you will see error locate command not found because no rpm locate package available in Linux. you can find any packages which are installed in Linux and this command shows the location of packages.

When you have installed the packages on Linux and there’s another mlocate command is the more secure version of locate the utility that only shows files associated with the user.

‘M’ stands for merging means updatedb existing database to avoid re-reading most of the file system. you can also use this command.

Error Locate Command Not

Find the Package name:

yum whatprovides locate

locate command in linux

This package mlocate-0.26-8.el7.x86_64 is responsible to run the locate command.

Install the Package

yum install mlocate-0.26-8.el7.x86_64 -y

no package locate available.

Note: Don’t forget to update the database using updatedb.

locate kibana
