How To Install Netbeans 11.3 IDE On Ubuntu

I have already installed java on the machine and you can add the repository to add it using the below commands and update the system. Let’s see, how to install Netbeans 11.3 IDE on Ubuntu machine.

add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/java
apt update

When you added repository and updated the system. Now you can either search the oracle java 8 and we can also use the below command to install it.

apt-cache search oracle-java8 
apt install oracle-java8-installer

We can also use sudo apt-get install openjdk-8-jre and sudo apt-get install openjdk-8-jdk then check the version using java -version.

root@ubuntu:~# java -version
openjdk version "1.8.0_242"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_242-8u242-b08-0ubuntu3~18.04-b08)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.242-b08, mixed mode)

you can download from the official site of Netbeans and we can use the wget command to download it.

You might get these Error:

root@ubuntu:~# wget https://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi/netbeans/netbeans/11.3/Apache-NetBeans-11.3-bin-linux-x64.sh

Once you have downloaded. Now we have to make it executable file.  

root@ubuntu:~# chmod +x Apache-NetBeans-11.3-bin-linux-x64.sh

If you face the below issue while installing the Netbeans. you might be downloading it from the wrong mirror.

root@ubuntu:~#./Apache-NetBeans-11.3-bin-linux-x64.sh 
Apache-NetBeans-11.3-bin-linux-x64.sh: 2: Apache-NetBeans-11.3-bin-linux-x64.sh: Syntax error: newline unexpected

Installation process using the right mirror.

Remove the downloaded package and use the below mirror to download it again and try to install it. 

root@ubuntu:~# rm -rf Apache-NetBeans-11.3-bin-linux-x64.sh

You have to use the below link to download it.

wget https://mirrors.estointernet.in/apache/netbeans/netbeans/11.3/Apache-NetBeans-11.3-bin-linux-x64.sh
root@ubuntu:~# du -sh Apache-NetBeans-11.3-bin-linux-x64.sh 
194M Apache-NetBeans-11.3-bin-linux-x64.sh
root@ubuntu:~# chmod +x Apache-NetBeans-11.3-bin-linux-x64.sh 
root@ubuntu:~# ./Apache-NetBeans-11.3-bin-linux-x64.sh

Click on next and accept the license.

Specify the java path and installation location and Click on install

/usr/lib/jvm/java-8-openjdk-amd64     # java path
/home/aryan/Desktop/netbeans-11.3   # installation location

ubuntu install netbeans ide 11

Click on install  

netbeans install

Installation completed and click on finish 

install netbeans 11

Now open the Netbeans.

netbeans install ubuntu
