Step 1 : First of all, update the packages list and installed them.

sudo apt-get install update

 sudo apt install build-essential zlib1g-dev libncurses5-dev libgdbm-dev libnss3-dev libssl-dev libreadline-dev libffi-dev wget

Step 2 : Now download the python package from official site.

wget https://www.python.org/ftp/python/3.7.3/Python-3.7.3.tar.xz

Step 3 : Extract the package using below command

tar -zxf Python-3.7.3.tar.xz

cd Python-3.7.3/

python3.7 install on Linux
python

Step 4 : This command will check all the dependencies required for python.

./configure –enable-optimization

Step 5 : Now install the package

make

Note : Don’t run the make install command, as it will overwrite the default system python binaries.

make altinstall

Step 6 : Check python version

python –version
