How To Install Samba File Sharing Server On Linux

How To Install Samba Server is a file sharing Server between Unix And Windows Operating Systems. It helps us to share files and Printer sharing between Linux and Windows Operating Systems. It talks to SMB/CIFS networking windows protocols. you can configure the samba server and below are the steps of the configuration of a samba server.

How To Install Samba File Sharing Server on CentOS:

NFS works only for the Linux platform where you can only share the files on Linux only but NFS v4 can solve this problem. you can share the files on both Linux as well windows.

Samba provides Secure, stable, and fast files and print services for all clients using the SMB/CIFS Protocol.

Step 1. First check Packages installed or not,

rpm –qa | grep samba*

How To Install Samba

Step 2. Install the Samba server using the below command.

yum install samba* -y

After installing you will see the packages.

And Configuration files are stored in  /etc/samba/smb.conf

Step 3: It’s always a good idea to keep the original files at a safe location by cp /etc/samba/smb.conf  /etc/samba/smb.conf.backup

Now you have successfully installed the Samba server But You need to configure it according to your need.
