Slack is one of the most collaboration platforms that brings all you for together communication in one place. This is also available for Mac, Window, Ubuntu, and Linux platforms.
You can create a channel for your team, topics, projects, or any other purpose to share the information in your organized group. This is also the same work as Microsoft Teams but features may be more or less.
This is not open source software and you won’t find the package in the default repository of CentOS. you can video, audio call, and share the files using these applications.
How To Install Slack On Ubuntu
We need to download the slack package from the official Website. you can just need to click on “Download .DEB (64-BIT)” then it will start the downloading.
1. Once you have downloaded the package, we need to run the below command to install the slack on ubuntu.
sudo dpkg -i slack-desktop-4.8.0-amd64.deb
2. When the package is installed, Search for “slack” as shown below.
3. Open it and sign in with your credentials and start using it.
Install Slack On CentOS 8:
Method 1: We can install it using the repository. you have to create a file at the below location.
[slack] name=slack baseurl=https://packagecloud.io/slacktechnologies/slack/fedora/21/x86_64 enabled=1 gpgcheck=0 gpgkey=https://packagecloud.io/gpg.key sslverify=1 sslcacert=/etc/pki/tls/certs/ca-bundle.crt
Run the below commands to install it.
yum repolist yum install slack -y
If you face any issue related to “memory issue” while installing using the repository, you must have a minimum of 2 GB RAM available on the Linux machine.
Now it’s installed and you can open it from the command line terminal using slack
Find it using Applications -> Internet -> slack
Method 2: Install and download the RPM package from the official website then run the below command.
rpm -ivh slack-4.8.0-0.1.fc21.x86_64.rpm
