How To Install and Configure Tor Browser On Ubuntu

We can install and configure the Tor browser on ubuntu. You can also launch a tor browser from the terminal using the command. This is used to web anonymously means it hides your location as well as your identity to serve the internet. This is based on Onion router technology. 

How To Install and Configure Tor On Ubuntu:

So we've installed the Tor browser using the source code. You go to the download

Once you have downloaded the package, you have to extract it and move the folder to /opt directory.

ubuntu@ubuntu:~/Downloads$ sudo tar -xvf tor-browser-linux64-9.0.9_en-US.tar.x
ubuntu@ubuntu:~/Downloads$ sudo mv tor-browser_en-US /opt/

if you face any issue in running the setup, check the permission on the folder. 

ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ sudo chown -R ubuntu:ubuntu tor-browser_en-US/
ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ ls -ld tor-browser_en-US/
drwx------ 3 ubuntu ubuntu 4096 Dec 31 1999 tor-browser_en-US/

Now launch the tor browser using the below command. 

ubuntu@ubuntu:~/tor-browser_en-US/Browser$ ./start-tor-browser

install tor

Configuration Network Connection:

If you’re able to connect directly to the internet, then click on “Connect“.

After the few minutes, the Tor browser would be installed and looks like as shown in
a figure.
