OpenSSL is a full-featured toolkit for Transport Layer Protocol(TLS) and Secure Sockets Layer(SSL) protocols. We will need it when we want to secure our website or application URL with SSL.
We need to install the certificate and hosted them with the https protocol. it makes the URL to secure and trusted.
How To Install and Configure OpenSSL on Windows 10:
We can download the OpenSSL using the below link:- http://slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html
Once it’s downloaded, double click on the “setup” and then click on” Run“.
Accept the license and click on “Next“.
Click on “Next“.
Keep it default and click on “Next“.
Click on “Install” then “finish“.
Once the installation is finished. we have to set the environmental variables. Now open the “settings” and type “path” in the search and open “System environmental variables“.
When you have opened it then click on “Environmental variables” then Go to the System variables.
Set the OpenSSL Variables:
Click on “New” and Copy the Openssl path from the installation location: C:\Program Files\OpenSSL-Win64\bin\openssl.cfg
Set the OpenSSL Path:
Select the “Path” then click on “Edit“. we have to add the path of the OpenSSL as shown in the below figure and click on “OK”.
Path= C:\Program Files\OpenSSL-Win64\bin\
Click on “OK” and open the command prompt with the administrator. Run the below command to check the version installed.
