Before installing, apache open office you must have removed default LibreOffice installed in ubuntu, and java should be installed on the machine. Install java in ubuntu machine using the simple command if not present.

sudo apt install java-1.8* -y

Check version using  java -version

Install apache open office

Download Apache Open Office from the official site for ubuntu.

install apache office

After downloading the apache package, install it using the below command.

tar -zxvf Apache_OpenOffice_4.1.7_Linux_x86-64_install-deb_en-US.tar.gz

install apache office ubuntu

Now navigate to the folder inside DEBS and you will see the packages. so

openoffice linux install

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Now install the desktop integration features on ubuntu and go to the desktop-integration folder /en-US/DEBS/desktop-integration so

sudo dpkg -i *.deb
