Step To Install Python 3.7 Programming Package On Ubuntu 18.04

By default, python 2.7 will be installed on Ubuntu 18.04. If you have requirement for any reason to upgrade this current version to Python 3.7, So you can do that. Let’s see step to install Python 3.7 programming language.

Python 3.7 interpreted, high level, general purpose programming language. Installing python 3.7 also depends on your Linux distribution. So python for other distribution you can find here.

Verify the current version installed on Ubuntu machine.

python –version

I have python 2.7 version installed on Ubuntu 18.04, now I’m going to upgrade it to python 3.7 version.

Step 1 : Run the below command to keep your system up to date.

sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade

After system up-gradation, you can simply try,

sudo apt-get install python3.7

if the above command works for you, it’s better otherwise we have another method to install it.

Step 2 : You can install python 3.7 using deadsnakes PPA repository.

Run the following commands

sudo apt-get install software-properties-common

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:deadsnakes/ppa

Now install python,

sudo apt-get install python3.7

For fedora linux,

sudo dnf install python3.7
