How To Uninstall VLC Player From Ubuntu 16.04/17.04/18.04

VLC Player is a free and open-source media software for Watching videos, Recording video, and creating videos. Developed by Video-LAN Project. It almost supports all the video formats. you can easily remove and how to uninstall VLC media player in the ubuntu machine.

Once you updated the packages in your machine using the sudo apt update $$ apt upgrade command. This will upgrade the VLC if you want otherwise you can use the below commands to remove it from the machine.

we can also upgrade this media player using the single command as well where you don’t need to uninstall the player from the ubuntu machine. Simply updates the VLC from the ubuntu terminal.

You can almost run all the media files in the VLC player it supports lots of video formats rather than other media players.

sudo apt-get purge vlc

In Case, above command does not work then try the below command

sudo apt-get autoremove --purge vlc

After this command, you will be removed from your Ubuntu machine.
